The Close Up Set For Second Season

If you loved The Close Up when it premiered last year, here’s some good news. Series creator Nicky Greenwall has announced that a second season is on its way. In fact, Season 2 premieres Saturday, 2 June on E-Tv. This season features an in depth look at the lives of Terry Pheto, professional hotness Jeannie D, Freshlyground front woman Zolani Mahola and Unathi Msengana, amongst others.

If you’re not familiar with the concept of the show, let me give you a crash course. Each week, the show takes a look at the lives of well-known celebs, and features intimate, never-before-seen footage of them before they were famous. The celebs then share their life story, and how they’ve managed to carve a niche for themselves in the entertainment world. The series promises to portray celebrities as they truly are. Series creator Nicky had this to say:

“We are delighted to be able to bring audiences another season of The Close Up. We had such a great time producing the last series – it was a no-brainer to come back and do it again.”

Nicky Greenwall is one of very few people I trust with this kind of show. She has the integrity to let these stories speak for themselves, instead of sensationalizing it for attention and viewership. If the previous season is any indication of what we’re in for, it’s going to be a doozy. I can’t wait for the new season.

Season  2 Line Up:

02 June – Actress Terry Pheto

09 June – TV Personality Jeannie D

16 June – Godfather of JHB Rap Scene Amu

23 June – Freshlyground’s Zolani Mahola

30 June – Former Miss Teen SA Gina Athens
