5FM Set To Host Billabong Pro Music Festival

5FM is responsible for some of my favourite memories of last year. Of course I’m referring to them bringing Kings of Leon to SA. This year they are set to do the same, with the announcement of their music festival during this year’s Billabong Pro in Jeffreys Bay. The festival is co-sponsored by Billabong and Nissan Juke.

The Billabong Pro serves as an amazing platform to gain ASP world ranking points for professional surfers. Over 100 international and local surfers are set to take part in this year’s event. Last year’s champion, Jordy Smith, has already confirmed his return to defend his title.

The 5FM festival is set to be a three day spectacle, hosting both local and international artists. In fact, 60+ artists are set to take the stage during the event, which takes place between 13 July – 15 July. The 5FM festival will also host the closing party.

The 5FM line up looks a little like this:

Friday 13 July

Main Outdoor Stage – International and Local Content

Indoor Stage – 5FM Festival of Electronica

Saturday 14 July

Main Outdoor Stage – International and Local Content

Indoor Stage – Ministry of Sound International Dance Event

Sunday 15 July

Main Outdoor Stage – The Big Chill Concert

Indoor Stage – The official Billabong Closing Party

No artists have been announced for the concert series yet, but 5FM will make the announcements shortly. I predict Shadowclub, Flash Republic, Toya Delazy and Jack Parow are just some of the local artists who are set to take the stage. Now I’ve never been to the Billabong Pro before, nor have I been to the Eastern Cape. But, in a year of firsts and new experiences, I plan to drag my ass down there and have a good time. Hope to see you there!
